This program prepares students for teacher certification in secondary education mathematics in New Hampshire and most states. In addition to satisfying all the competencies of the mathematics major, students develop skills and competencies listed in the New Hampshire Department of Educational Professional Standards for Teachers. To obtain the College?s recommendation for state licensure students must meet all requirements specified in the catalog as well as in the College?s Professional Education Handbook in Secondary Education, the Secondary Student Teacher Handbook, and the New Hampshire Department of Education Professional Standards for Teachers. Acceptance into the education licensure program is contingent on maintaining a 2.5 GPA overall and in mathematics , passing the PRAXIS I exam and being recommended by professors. A grade of B (3.0) or better in MA 322 Methods is required prior to the student teaching internship. New Hampshire teacher certification also requires students to pass the appropriate Praxis II exam.
