Special Education from Rockford College is a Campus Bachelor Special Education degree that prepares you for a Education career. The undergraduate special education program is a five-year Bachelor of Arts program with a foundation based upon the strength of the elementary education and liberal arts curriculum that prepares teachers for regular and special education settings teaching students K-21 years of age, with a cross-categorical and multi-programmatic setting approach. Students completing the program will have completed Illinois State Board of Education certification requirements leading to a Learning Behavior Specialist I certificate. LBSI certification candidates are also eligible for early childhood special education approval upon completion of a series of four additional courses which includes EDEC 360, EDEC 361, EDEC 362, and EDEC 363. Candidates may also be eligible for an elementary certificate with an additional student teaching experience.
