Family Nurse Practitioner from Rush University is a Campus Master Family Practice Nurse degree that prepares you for a Nursing career. The Role Choosing to prepare yourself as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) at Rush is very rewarding as it provides you with a depth and breadth of knowledge that will serve you well for the rest of your career. With this educational preparation and background students may choose to specialize in pediatrics, women\\\'s health, or adult internal medicine. Students may also choose to continue the broad based perspective and continue in family practice with a family practice approach. We prepare students so that they can function in a primary care/community based setting. Also, since many students would ultimately like to teach in an FNP program, we can individualize an experience in the area of teaching and education. The Program FNP students at Rush are educated in a personalized, individualized fashion to provide comprehensive health care to persons across the lifespan at one of the most established FNP programs in the country. Coursework is available both on-line and in-person format. In addition to providing individualized and family care, students will learn to translate their advanced practice skills to the needs of the community and will have the opportunity to work with community agencies in the areas of needs assessment, program planning and program development. The FNP program distinguishes itself through its strong clinical preparation of the student. All FNP faculty maintain an active clinical practice so realistic, applicable situations provide advantageous learning situations. Emphasis is placed on health assessment, health maintenance/promotion and prevention. Identification of health problems and the management of acute and chronic illnesses such as asthma, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease in children and adults are extensively discussed. Career Opportunities Career opportunities as a graduate of our FNP program offer major marketability, can be quite diverse, and can be tailored to your preferred interests. Our graduates currently practice in many different states across the country in specialty settings, private practice settings, family practice settings, retail clinics, underserved community settings, outpatient and inpatient hospital settings and colleges of nursing.
