Electrical Engineering from Saginaw Valley State University is a Campus Bachelor Electrical Engineering degree that prepares you for a Engineering career. Program Overview The ECE Department is supported by five qualified and experienced faculty members. All the members hold the highest degrees in their fields (Doctorates). They are primarily responsible for teaching lecture and laboratory courses and share the academic advising of students. Occasionally, experienced adjunct professors from industry assist in teaching, however, no courses are taught by graduate students. Due to the small class size in this program, students receive personal attention from the instructors. While emphasis on high quality teaching is the faculty members' highest priority, they keep up-to-date in their profession through involvement in research and other forms of professional development. The EE curriculum is supported by the departments of Chemistry, Computer Science, Math, Mechanical Engineering and Physics. Students gain communication skills, leadership qualities, cultural, social and international awareness through required general education courses and in the engineering classrooms. The student body is a mixture of traditional students and employed professionals. Classes are scheduled both in the daytime and the evening to accommodate their needs. The EE core curriculum provides the students with a foundation in electronic circuits (analog and digital), electrical machines, electromagnetic fields, microprocessors, control systems (analog and digital), computers, power, digital signal processing, communications and mechanical engineering. Students may concentrate in either Electrical Systems Engineering or Computer Engineering by carefully selecting up to four senior-level technical elective courses in either area. The Electrical Systems Engineering electives include Instrumentation, Linear Systems, Power Electronics , Modern Control System Design, Robot Dynamics & Control and Computer Applications in Power Systems. The Computer Engineering electives include Programming, Embedded System Design, Data Communications, Advanced Computer Engineering, Very Large Scale Integration (VLSI) and Digital & Satellite Communications . The EE curriculum is noted for the hands-on lab and design experiences to which the students are exposed. Design is taught and integrated throughout the curriculum and culminates in a major design experience related to the student's area of concentration.
