The basic objectives are to provide the student with a broad understanding of marketing concepts, the role of marketing in the firm, and the various factors that influence business strategy and decision-making. These objectives fall among six main principles: Knowledge: Students will gain knowledge of the functional areas of marketing including advertising, retailing, personal sales, and marketing research Application: Students will develop a solid understanding of "how to apply" key frameworks and tools for analyzing competition, and marketing strengths and weaknesses. Creativity: Students will develop insight about creative selection of target markets and blending decisions related to product, price, promotion and place (marketing mix) to meet the needs of a target market and implement creative marketing strategy. Communications Skills: The student will develop the ability to present, defend, and critique problem analysis and solutions to an audience of marketing peers. Emphasis is placed on written analysis, oral presentation, and extensive student discussion and participation. Values: Students will analyze ethical issues in marketing and demonstrate an understanding of the appropriate strategies for ethical decision-making.
