This truly unique program not only offers courses taught by experienced faculty, but also connections with the Saint Vincent Environmental Education Center, Winnie Palmer Nature Reserve and ScienceWISE. With these connections, students will be able to directly apply what they learn in the classroom to their traditional or non-traditional teaching situations. The Science Education Master?s degree provides an advanced and individualized program of study in Science Education designed for both formal and non-formal educators. The program will provide opportunities for in-depth study and investigation of recent research, emergent knowledge, and current events concerning science issues and policies and educational practices. By using both traditional and non-traditional strategies, and both classroom and laboratory activities, student graduating with this degree will be well prepared for the professional world. Perhaps most importantly, the Saint Vincent Science Education program will place emphasis on developing science education leaders who will be resources to their schools, school districts, and other work sites in developing and implementing science curricula to meet the new Pennsylvania Academic Standards. PROGRAM GOALS The goal of the program is to assure quality graduate study with stability and permanence that is achieved in a campus-based program. Students will have all necessary resources immediately available including the Saint Vincent College Library, computer labs, Internet and e-mail services, the College Bookstore, and the many technology and curricular resources of the Education Department.
