Digital Media from Salem Community College is a Campus Associate Multimedia degree that prepares you for a Communications career. Program Information The Digital Media program explores a variety of computer graphic design concepts including digital painting and illustration, page layout, digital and video image editing, and Web page design. Students learn appropriate layout, image editing and design skills, as well as software programs for utilizing the computer as an artistic tool. In addition to digital graphic studies, students will acquire artistic foundations in art history, drawing, and two- and three-dimensional design. Completion of the program prepares students for transfer to a four-year program leading to a career in either interactive multimedia -- Web page design, film, television and video -- or graphic design. Upon successfully completing this program, students should be able to: demonstrate an understanding of basic design concepts and how to use them; demonstrate an understanding of, and competency in, utilizing image editing, video editing, vector drawing and page-layout programs; and demonstrate visual communication skills as well as problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
