Theatre Arts from Santa Clara University is a Campus Bachelor Theatre degree that prepares you for a Art and Design career. The Department of Theatre and Dance offers its students the opportunity to study, perform, and work with all genres of theatre and dance. Acting, directing, dancing, choreography, lighting design, set design, sound design, costume design, playwriting, and arts management are all integrated into this diverse program that has graduated Emmy Award winners, Broadway directors and performers, designers, and administrators involved in every facet of the entertainment industry - from Carnegie Hall to regional theatres to film. In addition to the academic program, Santa Clara University has a thriving Center of Performing Arts which presents numerous productions by the Department of Theatre and Dance and the Department of Music. Students have the opportunity to perform, direct, choreograph, and provide design and technical support for these exciting works that are widely attended by the campus and local communities. Each year the Department of Theatre and Dance produces four plays, three in the Mayer Theatre and one in the Fess Parker Studio Theatre . All of these are directed by faculty members. Also, the dept. produces two mainstage dance productions where students have the opportunity to choreograph. Students have the opportunity to be involved in all productions through acting, dance, dramaturgy, design, stage management, run crew, costume crew and construction, and various other areas. In addition to the department productions there are student directed and/or choreographed shows throughout the academic year that rely heavily on participation from all majors.
