Evidence of current expertise in nursing practice and education. Credentials verifying legal status as an RN in the state in which they are employed and practice. THE FACULTY OF THE UNIT IN NURSING SHARE RESPONSIBILITY FOR AND PARTICIPATE IN: Development, implementation and evaluation of the program of learning. Development of standards for the admission, progression and graduation of student nurses. Advisement of student nurses . Activities of the total faculty of the parent institution in ways that benefit the institution, the unit in nursing, the faculty and students. Professional activities. ADVISEMENT OF POTENTIAL STUDENT NURSES: The advisement of potential nursing students is managed by the Health Sciences Counseling Office personnel. Information packets about each of the nursing programs is available from this office, as well as a videotape review of the packets. These packets provide information about the prerequisites, nursing curriculum, requirements and process for application, and selection criteria. Counselors are available to students for review of course work and guidance in planning sequence for prerequisite courses and any required college preparatory courses. Assistance is also provided in the application process. Typically, students are seen several times in this office during the year prior to actual application to the nursing program.
