World-class facility Undergraduate and graduate students explore, engage and collaborate in the inspiring 20,759-square-foot Pepe Hall-the largest, most comprehensive and best-equipped fibers facility in U.S. higher education. The facility features dedicated areas for screen-printing, repeat pattern design, dyeing, weaving , sewing, felting and papermaking. All students have access to top technology and industry-standard equipment, including an electronic Jacquard loom, Compu-Dobby looms and a Mimaki textile printer. Through extensive engagement with materials, technologies and methodologies, students take a multi-disciplined approach to their work. Cutting-edge tools The spacious, sophisticated home of the SCAD fibers department features the types of tools typically reserved for professionals: an electronic Jacquard loom, five Compu-Dobby looms, a Mimaki textile printer, a digital embroidery machine, knitting machines, a felting machine and a 40-gallon dye kettle. Custom studios in this state-of-the-art facility support learning of diverse processes, from ancient approaches to high-tech methods.
