Demonstrate the knowledge of the circulatory system and vein anatomy. Demonstrate knowledge of medical abbreviations and laboratory terminology. Demonstrate standard biohazard safety precautions. Demonstrate knowledge of the basic steps and perform standard and proper techniques of venipuncture. Demonstrate knowledge, proper use, sanitation and disposal as required, of all laboratory equipment and supplies used in blood collection and micro-collection. Demonstrate knowledge and application of medical laboratory forms relating to collection and handling of blood specimens. Demonstrate proper and effective patient relations related to blood specimen collections, including patient safety, disclosure, confidentiality and general patient communications. Possess the necessary skills and requirements to acquire the following Licenses and Certifications: Phlebotomist Certificate upon successful completion HCA (Health Care Assistant License) through employer National Certification (ex: NPA, ASCP) per required draws Possess the necessary skills as a phlebotomist and in employment readiness to become employed in hospitals, medical laboratories, health organizations, health centers, medical group practices, home health agencies, blood banks, and insurance companies.
