Nursing from Sentara School of Health Professions is a Campus Bachelor Registered Nurse degree that prepares you for a Nursing career. Your Exceptional Learning Experience: Nursing courses are combined with clinical experiences in the hospitals of one of the nation?s most innovative healthcare systems. Through the foundation built by completion of prerequisite courses, instruction in nursing skills by the school?s faculty and hands-on clinical experience, you learn to give coordinated, preventative and restorative care in a variety of clinical settings. Your Learning Experience is like no other. With 79 semester credits, that includes 1,080 clinical and skills lab hours, you will be well prepared with the competence and confidence you need to work as a Registered Nurse . Clinical experiences throughout the Program are at various times and facilities. Your clinical experiences are in a variety of settings in premium clinical sites, offering you the most exposure than any other program offering. The first half year consists of 5 on-line pre-nursing prerequisite courses. The Traditional BSN Program starts every August with on-line prerequisite courses beginning as early as two semesters beforehand. The junior and senior years are are taught between Monday and Thursday during the day. There are some courses that may require class/clinical on Fridays and evening and/or weekend shifts. Additionally, the majority of testing is done on-line and students may hace online tests open at any time throughout seven days of the week, at the instructor's discretion. Graduates are eligible to sit for the NCLEX exam. Graduates of the Traditional BSN Program are required to take the National Council Licensing Examination, NCLEX-RN, administered by the State Board of Nursing in order to practice nursing in any state. At Program completion, you will receive 125 credits and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree . The SCOHS is institutionally accredited by the national accreditor, Association of Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS).
