English as a Second Language students or students who desire further basic skills development are encouraged to apply. For the third quarter internship, students find jobs in dealerships, independent auto repair shops, or other automotive businesses. Students earn a certificate of proficiency upon graduation. OUTCOMES Students who successfully complete this program should be able to: 1. Understand and identify basic auto shop and personal safety parameters at auto repair facilities. 2. Perform basic automotive diagnosis and repair, and use the associated tools. 3. Identify and interpret suspension and steering concerns, and determine corrective action. 4. Inspect/diagnose and replace most brake components. 5. Diagnose fluid usage, level, leaks, and condition. 6. Identify, inspect, and test Heating and Air Conditioning systems. 7.
