Creative Arts from Siena College is a Campus Bachelor Arts Management degree that prepares you for a Art and Design career. Opportunities Siena College's Department of Creative Arts invites you to take part in the arts. In addition to attending performances, exhibits, talks, or taking bus trips to area museums such as Mass MoCA and trips to NYC for theatrical and musical performances, we provide ample opportunity for your own creative expression and involvement. Credit and/or extracurricular opportunities abound for your involvement - no matter what your background - in bringing the arts to life on our campus and in our community. Musical Opportunities Participate in the Siena College Chamber Orchestra, the Siena College Community Chorale, or intern with the internationally famous New York Catholic Chorale. Students also have the option of taking Chorus or Orchestra for academic credit. This is an opportunity to participate in teamwork that includes members of the community, as well as other students who love music. Each group meets in the evening at 6 p.m. in Foy Hall. The orchestra rehearses on Thursdays, and the chorale rehearses on Monday. We especially encourage faculty, staff, alumni, and friends of the college to join us. (Please contact the faculty for exact days and times as things may change per semester.) to join the Siena College Community Chorale (music reading ability not required) as a singer or accompanist, contact Joanna Towse (782-6572) to join the Siena Chamber Orchestra, contact Paul Konye (783-2511 ) for interest in string quartet, jazz ensemble, or other musical groups on campus, contact Paul Konye (783-2511 ) Join the Opera Club, a long-standing group associated with the college, which travels to local, regional, and international sites to see and hear the finest productions. To obtain schedules, price lists, or to join, please contact Peter Haley (783-2363). Practice rooms are available for use in Foy Hall. The soundproofed practice rooms have been equipped with pianos and a drum set, and provide space for students to practice their musical instruments and singing. Student internships are possible at NY orchestras, radio stations and recording studios . Contact Professor Konye at pkonye@siena.edu (783-2511) Theater Opportunities The student community is invited to participate in plays through auditioning for acting roles and such activities as working on costumes, sets, lighting, or other production aspects. To obtain a script or to join the production crew, contact Mahmood Karimi-Hakak (783-2372) or the Creative Arts Office (783-2381). Stage Three is the Theater Club for all students interested in performance and productions. Student internships are possible at local theaters. Contact Professor Massman at dmassman@siena.edu. Visual Arts Opportunities Student internships are possible at local galleries, photo studios, graphic design studios , and museums such as the Albany Institute of Art & History and MassMoCA as well as at EMPAC and other major arts organizations.
