Dietary Manager from Sinclair Community College is a Campus Certificate Dietetics degree that prepares you for a Healthcare career. Graduates of the Dietary Managers (DM) Program are trained foodservice professionals in health care delivery systems. They understand basic nutritional needs of clients and work in partnership with dietitians, who offer specialized nutritional expertise. The curriculum includes 198 hours of management and clinical directed practice. Students are required to complete these experiences at area community, foodservice and health care facilities. The program is designed to be completed in three (3) part-time consecutive quarters. As an integral member of the healthcare and foodservice management teams, dietary managers are responsible for maintaining cost/profit objectives, purchasing goods and services for the department, and supervising staff. Completion of the DM Program and a national credentialing exam will enable graduates to become Certified Dietary Managers, Certified Food Protection Professionals (CDM, CFPPs). Students must submit a Life and Health Science (LHS) application electronically. LHS applications are found at http://www.sinclair.edu/academics/lhs/index.cfm. Following LHS application submission, applicants will receive a DM Applicant Information Packet which outlines admission requirements into the DM Program. Program Outcomes Supervise and monitor the production, distribution, and service of food that meets the established criteria for nutrition, sanitation/safety, cost, and consumer acceptance Translate nutritional needs into food choices and menus for all people, including those of diverse cultures, ethnicities, and religions. Document nutrition and related data in the medical record and plan of care for clients/patients, communicating these to their families and the health team providers. Educate clients/patients/consumers/employees in health promotion, disease prevention, sanitation and safety, and food system management using effective oral, written, and other nonverbal communication Demonstrate professional practice in accordance with the Dietary Manager's Association and participate in life long learning.
