Mental Health Technology from Sinclair Community College is a Campus Associate Counseling degree that prepares you for a Healthcare career. The Mental Health Technology program prepares entry level human service workers for employment working on a professional team with clinical supervision. Duties may include client interviewing, crisis intervention and advocacy, activity therapy, group leadership, and case management. Graduates of this program work directly with a diverse group of clients in a wide variety of human service agencies. The course of studies can be completed on a full-time (7 quarters) or part-time basis with day and evening options available. The practicum portion of the curriculum provides over 500 hours of supervised clinical experience in human service agencies. Graduates are eligible for registration by the Ohio Counselor and Social Worker Board. This program is accredited by the Council for Standards in Human Service Education. An informational interview during or after MHT 101 and a 2.0 GPA is required for admission to the program. Program Outcomes Demonstrate effective oral and written reporting skills. Accurately gather information through clinical interviews and observation. Assess and prioritize client needs. Plan effective intervention strategies. Demonstrate interventions to meet client needs. Establish/maintain effective therapeutic relationships with others. Demonstrate professional and ethical practice with sensitivity to and respect for cultural, ethnic, and life-style diversity.
