The SCC Construction Technology Program combines the Wheels of Learning Method with the Associate of Applied Science Degree requirements. Students will not only be taught an apprenticeship, but will also receive an Associate Degree upon completion of this program. Program curriculum is based on The Wheels of Learning Method which combines illustrated instructional material with structured classroom activities. This apprenticeship program is approved by the U.S. Department of Labor and is recognized and available nationwide. This program emphasizes four levels of carpentry . Each level builds on the previous level, continuing the students? education and knowledge of carpentry. Agreements exist with local high schools that will allow students to take up to level 2 of carpentry while still in high school. During the summer term, between the students? first and second year, a paid internship is required.
