Dance Performance from Southern Utah University is a Campus Bachelor Dance degree that prepares you for a Art and Design career. The dance program is dedicated to giving students the opportunity to find their individual strengths and further develop their skills to prepare them to enter a professional, graduate or educational field. Students have the opportunity to study modern dance, ballet, character, tap and jazz. Additionally, majors will have the opportunity to attend professional conferences, festivals and work with visiting artists to broaden their understanding of the rigors and rewards of dance performance at the professional level. POINTS of DISTINCTION Accredited by the National Association of Schools of Dance. SUU-produced choreography is consistently chosen for American College Dance Festival Gala Concert. Recipient of the National Endowment for the Arts American Masterpiece Grant. Recent artists-in-residence have included Alberto Del Saz, Susan Hadley, Sara Hook, Charlotte Boyer-Christensen, Risa Steinbergand Joanie Smith. POSSIBLE CAREERS In addition to preparing dancers for placement in the nation's top performing arts graduate schools, SUU's dance performance program prepares students to become professional dancers for dance companies, cruise lines, commercial venues, etc.; choreographers for film, concert, musical theatre, etc.; private dance instructors; and dance studio owners/directors.
