Cosmetology from Springfield Technical Community College is a Campus Certificate Cosmetology degree that prepares you for a Vocational Programs career. The Cosmetology program is a 1000 clock-hour program which follows the criteria of the Massachusetts Board of Cosmetology in order to meet licensing requirements. This program also follows the academic standards of the Massachusetts Board of Higher Education in awarding each student a certificate in Cosmetology . The program is designed to provide the student with the basics of the art, science, and business aspects of the cosmetology profession. The program prepares the student to become a competent, qualified professional, meeting entry-level industry standard. This is a two semester program with each semester lasting 16 weeks including final exams. Each student must complete a minimum of 1,000 clock hours and earn the required clock hours in each area of study as outlined in the schedule of hours mandated by the Massachusetts Cosmetology Rules and Regulations. Once the required hours and basic fundamental standards are met, students practice their skills in the STCC Cosmetology Clinic, Client Lab. Theory, lab and clinical are required components. Application for licensure will not be given until the clock hours and course requirements are met.
