Knowledge and skills in research and teaching are enhanced by completing apprenticeships with individual faculty members. The Department of Sociology is quite selective in admissions and typically admits only enough new graduate students each year to yield an entering class of 6 - 10 students. Areas of study include: Organizations, Business, and the Economy; Race and Ethnic Relations; Social Movements, Comparative Politics, and Social Change; Social Psychology and Interpersonal Processes; and Social Stratification and Inequality.
