The program combines theoretical learning with supervised practice; therefore, the program provides students with the academic and supervised practice requirements established by CADE for entry-level dietitians. Graduates of the program receive a verification statement signed by the CPD program director. Graduates are then eligible to apply to take the registration examination administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration. Passing the registration examination earns the credentials of registered dietitian (RD). Career Information Dietetics majors are prepared for careers as health care professionals who plan and provide nutritional care in hospitals, nursing homes, and other institutions whose clients require a healthy diet. Graduates also may work as educators or consultants in corporate wellness programs , community centers, or health care organizations. Some students pursue graduate degrees in nutrition or related fields. Recent graduates have been hired as supervisors of food and nutrition, directors of food safety, and nutrition specialists.
