This course is designed to provide instruction in the basics of computer use, maintenance, repair, and networking in the business world. Instruction will include the art of applications software usage for creating word processing documents used for business correspondence, mathematical spreadsheets used in the world of accounting and business setups, databases, graphic presentations, Web pages, and programming. These skills are required for success in the business world, both as an employee or business owner. Instruction will include the use of the Internet, how to troubleshoot modern computer systems, and training in the art of networking skills. A high degree of hands-on and real world experiences will help prepare the student for the A+ and Network+ Industry certifications. Students should be prepared to continue their education towards any higher certification levels desired, including Microsoft's MCP, MCSA, and MCSE programs. The program is objective-based with the student being tested as he/she progresses. The student is given the opportunity to achieve as many industry recognized certifications as possible for the level of experience gained and education offered. The Computer Information Technology program is broken into two tracks of training. One track is called Information Systems (IS) which trains the student in computer software.
