Mary Couts Burnett Library provides on campus library facilities for study and research as well as on-line access to collections at other affiliated universities. The BS degree in Computer Science is administered by the TCU Department of Computer Science. The Department maintains several computing laboratories for use by students. A separate laboratory is maintained for use by students enrolling in the department's computer hardware courses and Senior Design capstone course. Additionally, two research laboratories (the Crescent "Smart Homes" lab and the Mobile HCI lab) are available for students to engage in research activies with faculty members. All laboratories may be physically accessed 24 hours a day. The TCU Network is also available for any student living in the dorms. Laser printers are provided in all of the Department's student laboratories. Software tools are an important part of the learning experience in the BS-COSC program. Various CASE tools are available for student use; there are numerous programming languages such as Pascal, C, Ada, SmallTalk, C++, Eiffel, SR, Lisp, and Java; document preparation tools such as LaTeX, the Microsoft Office Suite, and the Apple Mac iWorks Suite; research environments such as PAISLey are available for study as is the Microsoft .Net framework environment.
