CPA Examination Requirements The Public Accountancy Act of 1991 requires that a candidate for the CPA exam, after September 1, 1997, must have completed 150 semester credit hours, the Department of Accounting offers programs that allow students to meet the requirements of the Certified Public Accounting Examination.
