These two tracks to the M.S. in Biotechnology are both 21 month curricula that include two semesters of coursework and a year of full time research in a University or biotechnology industry lab. It is typically a non-thesis degree with an optional thesis at the end of the second year by arrangement with the advisor. Collectively, the joint program comprises the only biotechnology degree in the nation that combines the expertise of faculty from both a medical school and a large research university, and that provides a breadth of educational opportunity ranging from animal and plant biotechnology in agriculture to cutting-edge concepts and applications in biomedicine.
