Public Administration from Texas Tech University is a Campus Master Public Administration degree that prepares you for a Human Services career. Master of Public Administration .The program for the Master of Public Administration degree is designed to prepare students to assume administrative positions in government and nonprofit agencies with particular emphasis on municipal government and specialty tracks associated with it. Persons already employed in government can be prepared to assume more advanced positions. Applicants to the M.P. A. program should complete the Graduate School application process and submit two letters of reference if they wish to be considered for a teaching assistantship. Students are required to take 36 hours of graduate courses, including a specified core curriculum of 18 hours of public administration courses. All degree candidates lacking substantial prior administrative experience must also register for 6 hours of internship credit and complete internship responsibilities in a government or non-profit agency. Students will not be allowed to graduate with less than a B grade in any core course. A core course may be retaken only once. There are no foreign language or thesis requirements. M.P. A. students must develop their courses of study in consultation with the department's M.P. A. director.
