Art History from The College of New Rochelle is a Campus Bachelor Art History degree that prepares you for a Art and Design career. Art History majors in our program study art from diverse cultures and stylistic periods in both electives and seminar courses. Throughout the four-year program, students participate in ongoing art colloquia and seminars designed to provide cohesiveness within the various aspects of the program. The junior and senior years offer all majors the opportunity for focused research and in-depth study in seminars, internships, and independent studies that encourage professional development and inquiry into each student's potential as an individual, an artist, and art professional. All majors are required to complete at least one internship experience. The Art Department offers an Art History Program leading to a B.A. degree . and a minor in Art History, which requires a minimum of 18 credits (12 credits must be taken at The College of New Rochelle). Every Art major presents a senior exhibition. Students may elect to complete a senior research paper in conjunction with their individualized programs. The faculty of the Art Department consists of five full-time members supported by adjunct faculty members from the professional art community. The Visiting Artist Lecture Program provides further variety in the curriculum. In addition to numerous art studios, students have access to the latest technology, including a MacIntosh computer laboratory, the Visual Resources Collection, a complete black and white photography studio and, in cooperation with the Communication Arts Department and the Media Center, a full complement of audio and video studios and course offerings. Exhibition opportunity is available in the Mooney Center, complemented by abundant opportunities to view art at the Castle Gallery and in the surrounding communities of New York City and Westchester.
