Computer Graphics and Visual Communication Interactive Media Option from The Community College of Baltimore County is a Campus Associate Multimedia degree that prepares you for a Communications career. The Computer Graphics and Visual Communication (CGVC) program prepares students for careers or transfer to four-year degree programs in graphic design, animation, motion graphics, photography, digital imaging, game design, and interactive media . This program, which incorporates a common core of six studio and digitally based courses, offers an A.A.S. degree with six different options for study. Students who select this curriculum and plan to transfer to a four-year college, university, or art school should consult with the program coordinator. This program offers a variety of specialized courses that may not match every transfer pattern. Interactive Media Option The Interactive Media option prepares students to design and develop computer-based media for communications purposes. Through hands-on projects, students gain a solid foundation of knowledge in the use of interaction, multimedia scripting, hardware and software for media development, and a working knowledge of teamwork and process for project authoring. This program prepares students for entry-level positions in a variety of web and media production companies. Students who select this curriculum and plan to transfer to a four-year college, university, or art school should consult with the program coordinator. Upon successful completion of this degree, students will be able to: 1. use current industry-standard authoring applications to create cross-platform interactive media products incorporating text, graphics , animation, video , scripted interaction, and sound; 2. apply team concepts to the development of interactive media; 3. design and use storyboards for the layout and implementation of interactive media projects; 4. apply human computer interface skills to enhance user interaction; 5. apply ethical practices concerning topics such as copyright, usability, and accessibility to the development of interactive media products; 6. identify principles of interactive media based on events, people and technologies of interactive media; and 7. explain basic concepts of how interactive media works, define the terminology associated with the Internet and interactive media, and use the Internet to explore the wide range of offerings in communication, information, politics, and commerce.
