BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN EDUCATION Majors: Biology with Education Emphasis (Grades 7-12) Chemistry with Education Emphasis (Grades 7-12) English with Education Emphasis (Grades 7-12) History with Education Emphasis (Grades 7-12) Interdisciplinary Studies with the following options Biology and Chemistry (Grades 7-12) Biology and Mathematics (Grades 7-12) Chemistry and Mathematics (Grades 7-12) Elementary Education (Grades K-6) History and Psychology (Grades 7-12 & 9-12) Middle Grades (Grades 4-8) The Department of Education offers one non-licensure degree program, a Bachelor of Arts in General Education Studies. The degree includes a general education core, study in the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, and mathematics. A substantial number of elective hours are included in this degree program to enable students to individualize their program of study. Students who have completed an appropriate baccalaureate or Master's degree and seek Tennessee licensure in one of the approved basic/initial areas may be admitted to the Teacher Education Program, assuming they meet all program admission requirements. Requirements for Post-Degree students are found in a later section. Also, add-on-endorsements may be pursued by students who have a degree and licensure to teach in one or more areas, and who wish to acquire an additional specialty. All programs of study and coursework delivered by the Department of Education are at the undergraduate level. At the present time, the Department does not offer any graduate courses or programs.
