The Department's main faculty strength today is in the areas of Arabic and Islamic Studies and Graeco-Arabic Studies; Assyriology, including Sumerian and Akkadian; and Egyptology and Egyptology with Christian Orient (Coptic, Syriac, Christian Arabic), though other programs can be developed on an individual basis, sometimes in collaboration with other departments and programs, such as Anthropology, History, Medieval Studies, and Religious Studies.
