State Tested Nurse Aide from Central Ohio Technical College is a Campus Certificate Clinical Nurse degree that prepares you for a Nursing career. You must be a current STNA to be admitted in Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) and Licensed Practical Nursing Certificate (LPN); however, transition nursing program (LPN to ADN) does not have this requirement. If you have had a formal course in basic health care skills in a hospital, military, or clinic, you should contact the Ohio Department of Health to see if your experience and training meet their requirements for STNA qualifications. If you are a current STNA, your card must be presented to the academic advising office as verification of your status. If you are not an STNA and have had no formal course in basic health care skills, you will need to enroll in an STNA course. COTC offers 4015 Basic Health Care Skills (STNA) course at the Coshocton Campus and CTEC (formerly the Licking County Joint Vocational School located in Newark). At the end of the class, you must apply to take the state test. When you pass the state test, you will need to present your card to the academic advising office as verification of your status. Career Opportunities State Tested Nurse Aides may choose to work in long term care, assisted living facilities or hospitals.
