The Physical Therapist Assistant degree program prepares students to provide physical therapy services according to the plan of care developed by the physical therapist. The physical therapist assistant administers direct patient care; teaches patient's families, and other health care providers how to perform selected procedures; and provides desired psycho-social support to patients and their families. Physical therapist assistants are employed primarily in hospitals, rehabilitation centers, private practice, extended care facilities and home health care settings. Graduates are eligible to take the state licensing exam. OCCUPATIONAL GOAL Physical Therapist Assistant. PROGRAM This is a Chesapeake Area Consortium of Higher Education program. Students will complete general education requirements at Chesapeake College , professional training at Anne Arundel Community College, and clinical internship in Chesapeake's service area when possible. Distance Learning will be used where appropriate. In addition to the scholastic standards required of all students in the College, all physical therapist assistant students must receive a minimum grade of ?C? in each physical therapist assistant course.
