The Certificate program in Surgical Technology is designed to prepare students to become integral members of the surgical team. As members of the surgical team, they will work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, registered nurses, and other surgical personnel delivering quality patient care and assuming appropriate responsibilities before, during, and after surgery. Students who successfully complete this program will be eligible to sit for the national certification exam offered by The Liaison Council for the Surgical Technologist . OCCUPATIONAL GOALS Surgical Technologist in a Hospital Surgical Technologist in a Private or Ambulatory Surgery Center. PROGRAM The Surgical Technology program is a 10-month program, including the summer session. Through classroom instruction and clinical field work, students cover surgical ASEPSIS and the preparation and use of the operating room and its equipment. Enrollment in this curriculum is limited by the availability of clinical facilities. In addition to the scholastic standards required of all students enrolled in the College, surgical technology students must achieve a grade of ?C? or better in each required BIO and SGT course in order to continue in and graduate from this program.
