Graduates of the Early Childhood Education Degree Early Literacy Option are prepared to work with children aged birth to five years in a variety of settings. The focus on early literacy will prepare individuals to work In support roles at the elementary level, or in support and lead roles at the preschool level. An emphasis on beginning reading, writing, comprehension and language development serves as the foundation for this option. The program schedule that follows is designed for full-time students who have completed all prerequisites and who have no college preparatory recommendations. Many individuals, especially part-time students and those taking college preparatory requirements, will require additional quarters of study. Students should consult their academic advisors for help in planning their schedules.
