Communication Science and Disorders from Columbia College - Columbia is a Campus Associate Communication Disorders degree that prepares you for a Healthcare career. The field of Communication Science and Disorders (CSD) includes the study of speech, language, and hearing science, and the related but distinct professions of speech-language pathology and audiology. Speech-language pathologists diagnose and treat such disorders as delayed language development, stuttering, voice and articulation problems. Audiologists specialize in prevention, assessment and rehabilitation of hearing disorders in individuals, and may participate in hearing conservation problems, particularly in industry. Both speech-language pathologists and audiologists have the option to work in a variety of different work settings throughout their careers, including schools, hospitals, clinics, rehabilitation centers, government agencies, private practice and colleges and universities. Speech-language pathologists and audiologists work with individuals of all ages, from infants to the elderly. Columbia College and the University of Missouri-Columbia have developed an agreement for students who choose to complete the Associate of Science Degree for Pre-communication Science and Disorders and transfer to University of Missouri-Columbia to complete a Bachelor's degree within the School of Health Profession (SHP). Any student who had completed the Pre-communication Science and Disorders Associate Degree with a minimum 3.0 GPA and no more than 15 transfer hours from a college other than the University of Missouri-Columbia may transfer all 60 hours of the specific course credits toward a bachelor's degree in the School of Health Professions.
