Curriculum Description The Associate Degree Nursing curriculum provides individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide nursing care to clients and groups of clients throughout the life span in a variety of settings. Courses will include content related to the nurse's role as provider of nursing care, as manager of care, as member of the discipline of nursing, and as a member of the interdisciplinary team. Graduates of this program are eligible to apply to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN) which is required for practice as a Registered Nurse. Employment opportunities include hospitals, long term care facilities, clinics, physicians' offices, industry, and community agencies. Nursing Program Outcomes Upon completion of all coursework in the Associate Degree Nursing Program, the student will be able to: Theoretical/Lab 1. Demonstrate a sound understanding of the science associated with nursing. 2. Demonstrate dosage calculation and pharmacological knowledge. Clinical 1. Use therapeutic communication techniques with groups of clients and significant persons. 2. Assess groups of clients for changes in health status and identified needs. 3. Correlate data in a logical manner to develop nursing diagnosis. 4. Evaluate the effectiveness of care for a group of clients. 5. Provide caring behaviors and nursing actions that assist clients in meeting their needs in diverse settings. 6. Implement and evaluate the progress toward identified learning outcomes of a group of clients. 7. Evaluate the effectiveness of care for a group of clients. 8. Collaborate with the client, significant others and healthcare team members to achieve client and organizational outcomes. 9. Coordinate the implementation of the plan of care for a group of clients. 10. Practice within the ethical, legal, and regulatory frameworks of nursing and standards of professional nursing practice.
