Architecture Digital Design and Fabrication Master from Georgia Institute of Technology - Main Campus details

Program Format: Campus Program Level: Master

Architecture Digital Design and Fabrication from Georgia Institute of Technology - Main Campus is a Campus Master Architectural Engineering degree that prepares you for a Engineering career. Overview Newly conceived abstract forms generated by parametric models and controlled by scripts and spreadsheet parameters?these new "canvases" for generating architectural form are changing our conception of buildings and how they are designed and constructed. Form generated without embedded fabrication expertise or design-for-fabrication methods usually cannot be realized. Form without a conceptual logic is likely to be meaningless. The Master of Science with major in architecture and a concentration in Digital Design and Fabrication focuses on generative design systems and parametric modeling to develop new building form and close the gap between conception and realization. The Digital Design and Fabrication Program addresses constraints and requirements of construct by exploring topics such as material properties and selection; product performance; machining processes; numerical control production processes; and design-for-fabrication criteria, to name a few. Who Should Apply Students in this program will gain effective knowledge of parametric design that can respond to varied objectives and first-hand knowledge of a variety of custom fabrication methods. This program is designed for professionals in the design and built environment who want to: learn and apply parametric modeling, scripting and APIs for development of surfaces and structures for complex building forms, or portions of forms; hone foundation knowledge in 3D surface and geometric modeling; develop a cultural framework for considering these forms; understand fundamentals of materials and their forming; learn CAD/CAM production methods; and understand the planning and processes required to map the form into production process.
