MISSION STATEMENT The faculty of Psychology and Sociology in GSC's Division of Social Science is committed to the education of their students to be productive, ethical and responsible individuals. A degree in Behavioral Science with a concentration in Psychology and Sociology will enable the student to develop a foundation of understanding in the Human Behavioral Science and its related fields. The program is designed to provide a synthesis of knowledge where by the individual can gain employment into entry human service related fields or continue to advanced degrees in Psychology or Sociology. GOALS: A graduate of this program will be: Knowledgeable about the different Behavioral Sciences and have a general understanding of the skills necessary to work within the field. Able to enter and succeed in Master or PhD programs within the behavioral science fields. OBJECTIVES: A graduate of this program will: 1. Understand the different theories of the behavioral sciences and apply those to their particular area of interest. 2. Understand the development of the individual and how he/she fits within society. 3. Effectively convey his/her level of understanding of content material in class presentations, class performance and class projects. 4. Develop an appreciation of the many differences within our society and be able to develop empathy for individual differences. 5.
