Program Format: Campus Program Level: Bachelor

Computer Graphics from Indiana Wesleyan University is a Campus Bachelor Computer Graphics degree that prepares you for a IT career. Thousands of years ago, stories were told with pictures, symbols, not words. It was a powerful medium, evoking emotion and prompting action. Pictures have the same power today that they did in ancient Egypt, whether they are formed with ink on papyrus, chisel on stone, or?a mouse or digital pen on a graphics tablet. ?What courses will I take?? you ask Students who embark on the Computer Graphics degree at IWU don't have to demonstrate proficiencies with papyrus. What you will do is master the technical skills while developing your own artistic style. Your courses will include just enough art history to give you some perspective, plus subjects fit for both Computer Science majors and Art majors. Drawing courses introduce you to composites and structure, use of line, movement and space, all in the traditional medium of pen and paper. Two-dimensional design will teach you the abstract elements of line, texture, shape, space, color, values and patterns, before you launch into the issues of three-dimensional design. You'll even learn about digital photography. And of course, no computer graphics major would be complete without courses in color theory, computer typography, Web design and computer illustration. Design is alive around you?take a look While your computer graphics are born on the monitor in front of you, design lives in the real world, all around you: in magazines, on Web sites, album covers, cereal boxes and more. After you graduate, you might use your skills to pursue engineering or architecture, develop Web technologies, produce CD-ROMs or become a specialist in computer-aided design (CAD). You might take an in-house position as a magazine layout editor or design consultant, or if you're really brave, you might give freelancing a try. The highlight of the college career for many art students is the Senior Exhibit, the capstone of all one's work and which is exhibited before graduation. The exhibit is your chance to display and even sell your very best work, the primo pieces in your portfolio. This event is open to the community as well, and could be your first public appearance, so to speak?the time you introduce yourself and your talent to the world. Take time to find God's grand design No matter which career path you follow, you'll need to be able to work under extreme time constraints and very defined financial and design limits to produce quality material. You must be able to incorporate feedback from different sources into a distinctive image and offer a variety of distinctly different, but all equally creative concepts to your client. If you can take constructive criticism, have an eye for design and a flair for color, join us in the Computer Graphics program. We'll add technical skills and artistic techniques to the intuitive qualities you already possess. And while you're here?at one of the fastest growing Christian universities in the country?you'll be part of God's unfolding story as you set out to discover God's grand design for your life.
