And as the Internet continues to grow and change, you'll find more and more of our alumni producing innovative content for the web, for example, online gaming. There are so many career possibilities for this major that we've organized it into six concentrations: audio production documentary production international communications scriptwriting video production Each concentration is designed to provide you with the specific skills you need to succeed in your chosen field. Through our directed studies program we can even help you develop a tailor-made concentration of your own. Regardless of your concentration, you will learn to think critically and analytically about mass media: their role in our society and your role as a media professional. Your classes will range from the production-oriented, where you will learn to script, direct, and budget for videos shot on location, to the theoretical, where you'll learn the historical and critical context of mass communication. You will also have numerous opportunities for hands-on experience, in and out of the classroom. Extensive production and instruction facilities include two large television studios, dozens of portable SD and HDV digital video cameras, multiple digital nonlinear video editing stations, a multi-track audio production studio, multiple Pro Tools audio production stations, two radio production studios, a master control complex, and a fully equipped television remote-broadcast truck. You'll take classes in our computer-based labs and produce audio, video, motion graphics, journalism, media research, and multimedia projects. Our technical staff will assist you every step of the way. Your internship opportunities are almost endless. Our students have worked at places like MTV, CBS, MSNBC, ABC, and Fox in New York City; the BBC in London; and with NBC Sports at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. They have interned at the Colbert Report, Columbia Records, New Line Cinema, and the New England Patriots football team. What's more, it's not unusual for our students to parlay their internship experiences into jobs after graduation. Whatever your interests, you're certain to find a good fit.
