DESCRIPTION This Associate in Applied Science degree prepares students for entry-level positions in the medical office and health care environment. The combination of general education and medical office coursework provide the student with a foundation to begin a career in the medical office . The medical office coursework emphasizes the importance of patient confidentiality, legal issues related to patient care, and HIPAA. Students gain entry level skills in record keeping, scheduling appointments and referrals, coding and processing claims. Students will have the opportunity to learn about the various insurances used in health care. PROGRAM MISSION The mission of the Medical Office Management program is to prepare students for employment medical offices, clinics and other health related settings. The curriculum provides the student with entry-level skills in the medical administrative area as well as transferable skills necessary in today???s workforce. The program provides a foundation for acquisition of additional skills in health care administration or other non-clinical health care careers.
