Mission Statement The mission of the Humanities Program is to empower students for Christian and professional leadership by enabling them to write effectively, think critically, analyze and interpret literary and related texts credibly, bring a sanctified imagination to the understanding of literary and related texts, and successfully pursue graduate studies and/or professions requiring these abilities. Objectives The graduate with a degree in Humanities will be able to: 1. Apply a variety of interpretive methods to his or her reading of literary texts. 2. Successfully pursue graduate studies and/or employment while assuming positions of Christian leadership throughout the world. 3. Understand the complexities and nuances of English grammar and language. 4. Recognize allusions from a broad base of literary texts. 5. Recognize and evaluate key ideas from contemporary literary theory. 6. Write effectively for a variety of audiences and purposes. General Information For the Bachelor of Arts in Humanities , the major requires 36 semester hours, plus 4 semesters of foreign language courses.
