Demonstrate knowledge of issues and trends related to dialysis (patient rights, regulatory agencies, bloodborne pathogens, weight calculation, treatment modalities, renal diet, patient/family education, documentation, communication and medical problems related to dialysis). Demonstrate knowledge of kidney anatomy, function and failure. Demonstrate knowledge of principles of dialysis (vascular access, routine lab tests and collection, medications, herparin administration, isolation technique, aseptic technique, complications of hemodialysis, initiation and discontinuing dialysis and monitoring during dialysis). Demonstrate overview of the dialysis delivery system, water treatment systems, hemodialyzer reuse.
