Music Education from Moravian College and Moravian Theological Seminary is a Campus Bachelor Teaching degree that prepares you for a Education career. Moravian offers a certification program in the teaching of music (K-12). Students complete Education 150 and 155 in the sophomore year and Education 242.2 in the junior year. Student-teaching and the concurrent seminar (Education 375, 376, 377, and Music 374.2) are taken in the spring of the senior year or in the fifth year for dual degree students. Physical Education 236 is required as one of the physical education activities. All music programs share a core of courses in theory and history: Msuic 160, 171.2, 175.2, 272.2, 281, 283, 352.2, and 354.2. The Bachelor of Music in music education also requires Music Performance 300 (two terms), 300.2 (four terms) and 300.3 (two terms); Music 130.1-132.1, 135.1-138.1, 140.2-141.2, 240.2-241.2, 322.2, 336.2, 340.2, 342.2, 374.2, and 375.2. Total: 17.75 course units. Additionally, the student must pass piano and guitar proficiency exams before student teaching.
