Program Format: Campus Program Level: Master

Creative Writing from Rosemont College is a Campus Master Writing degree that prepares you for a Liberal Arts career. Rosemont?s M.F.A. in Creative Writing program supports writers as they embark upon their careers as poets, short fiction, creative non-fiction, and novel writers, with workshops and courses designed to help both established and emerging writers generate and revise work, sharpen their knowledge and practice of craft, and develop critical reading and editing skills. Our students prepare for the post-M.F.A. world as teachers, readers, presenters, bloggers, workshop leaders, writing group members, literary journal submission readers and editors, panel moderators, reviewers, published authors, and all the other various roles writers take on in the contemporary writing community. In partnership with the M.A. in Literature and M.A. in Publishing programs, the M.F.A. in Creative Writing offers writers numerous electives and concentrations and the opportunity to work closely with faculty in each of the programs. It?s a program rapidly gaining a national reputation, one that artfully blends the creative arts with the ?business? of publishing. We look forward to adding your voice to our rapidly growing ensemble of supportive, committed writers. Rosemont?s M.F.A. in Creative Writing offers students the opportunity to study their craft in a variety of writing workshops taught by a talented and dedicated writing faculty. Literature courses allow students to further develop their unique styles and voices by exploring literary traditions. In addition, students may choose electives from non-workshop writing classes, interdisciplinary courses that draw on other facets of the arts (such as theatre and visual art) to speak to the writing process, and publishing courses that provide valuable insight into the practical side of becoming a published writer. The program emphasizes a ?push to publish,? both during your studies and after earning the degree . Together, students and faculty form a dynamic, productive writing community. Students expand the boundaries of their talent, experience new techniques and viewpoints, discover the rich traditions of the literary world, and ground themselves in the practical knowledge of the publishing industry. This community of writers is brought even closer together through events such as monthly student/faculty readings and the annual Stroll Through the Arts event. View more details on Rosemont College .
