Description: The Certificate of Completion (CCL) in Film Production is designed for students who plan to enter the production aspect of motion pictures. Students will receive hands-on training in Motion Picture/Television Production by producing a variety of short films and videos which will include writing screenplays, developing a production, demonstrating cinematographic principles, organizing production crews, participating as a production crew member, recording and designing sound, and editing the finished product. In addition, students will study feature film theory. Program Competencies: Trace the history of the development of American radio and television and describe the role, responsibilities and purposes of mass communications in American society. Identify and describe the basic elements of pre-production for motion picture and television. Pre-produce one film and one video project. Identify and describe the basic elements of production for motion picture and television. Produce one film and one video shoot. Identify and describe the elements of post-production for motion picture and television. Complete the post-production and marketing plan for one film and one video project. Review the history and development of the art of motion pictures including the aesthetic and technical elements. Develop an outline or a paradigm for a short film script and write a short script. Demonstrate analog and digital recording techniques in the field as well as in a controlled environment. Demonstrate multi-camera production techniques and skills in studio and on location. Shoot a short 16mm or high-definition video project and crew on additional 16mm or high-definition video project shoots. Design, develop and direct a scene from a script with a camera. Use non-linear editing techniques to create and edit a variety of assigned projects. Use a non-linear editing system to edit a film or television project for presentation.
