Foreign Languages Arabic from The New School is a Campus Bachelor Area Studies degree that prepares you for a Liberal Arts career. People who can speak and translate Arabic are in demand in a wide range of professions. The New School offers Modern Standard Arabic-as distinct from Classical Arabic, or colloquial forms of the Arabic language-for students at all levels. Arabic course offerings include: Two-credit courses scheduled in the evenings during the fall, spring, and summer semesters. Classes meet once a week for a total of 13 sessions, one hour and 50 minutes per session. Levels 1 through 4 are designed for beginners; levels 5 and 6 provide intermediate challenges; and levels 7 and 8 allow for advanced study. Three-credit daytime courses scheduled as follows: Intro 1 and Intro 3 in the fall; and Intro 2 and Intro 4 in the spring. More advanced levels are offered as they are developed and integrated into the curriculum. Classes meet twice a week for a total of 30 sessions, one hour and 20 minutes per session.
