In 2009, Germany celebrated the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, an event followed by a period of renewed interest in German culture, from the thriving art and music scenes of its epicenter, Berlin, to its innovations in the fields of architecture and design. The New School offers a selection of 2- and 4-credit courses on German language and culture in the evenings and on Saturdays in the fall, spring, and summer. Classes are offered at a variety of levels and are scheduled as follows: once a week for a total of 13 sessions, one hour and 50 minutes per session; or once a week for a total of 13 sessions, three hours and 45 minutes per session (intensive schedule).
