The NLS degree program prepares technology professionals for the design and development of interactive, mediated, networked systems for human learning and performance. Students in the degree program will develop knowledge and competencies for designing human computer interactions, designing and developing digital media, and designing and developing networked based applications. The degree program seeks students with technical savvy, analytical skills, creative interests, and a desire to build the next generation of human computer interactions. The degree program emphasizes "learning by doing" and students will be expected to take on challenging assignments, take responsibility for their own learning, work collaboratively with faculty and other students, and produce a portfolio of work and accomplishments. The NLS focus area competencies emphasize: The application of knowledge about technology (networks, databases, software applications, etc.) and the learning sciences (pedagogical practices, learning theory, assessment).
