Fine Art from Indiana Wesleyan University is a Campus Bachelor Fine Art degree that prepares you for a Art and Design career. To show truth with a riot of color. To move someone to tears with a single image. To inspire the mind and renew the heart with the beauty of form. This is the story of a true artist, one who thinks nothing of investing his or her very life in the perfection of the craft. The prize, illumination, is bright enough to light the path even through the dark moments of self-doubt. Illuminating truth through art is definitely a worthy goal. At Indiana Wesleyan University , we acknowledge that all truth is God's truth, and that the Creator of the Universe is pleased when we create, too. God, the Master Artist, is the one who gives us our yearning for art and the ability to create it. Pursue the Fine Art major at IWU, and we'll feed your passion with the skills you need to make your art the best it can be. Gain dimension, perspective, confidence The Fine Art major provides a strong foundation in several artistic media. In your drawing classes, learn composites and structure, use of line, movement and space, perspective and composition. Gain an awareness and confidence to create on paper what your eye sees. Study two- and three-dimensional design, the abstract elements of line, texture, shape, space, color, values and patterns. But your education doesn't begin and end with the abstract. You'll work in the hands-on areas of digital photography, ceramics and computer graphics and take your choice of art electives. You'll also take a couple courses in art history to add perspective. Multiply your marketability While the Fine Art major is wonderful on its own, consider bolstering your skill set by choosing a double major or minor within the art department. Ceramics, Computer Graphics, Illustration, Painting, Photography, Printmaking, Interior Design or Pre-art Therapy are all excellent complementary programs. The highlight of your college career just might be your Senior Exhibit, the capstone of all your work during your senior year. The exhibit is your chance to display and even sell your best work, the cream of the crop of your portfolio. This event is open to the community as well, and could be your first public appearance, so to speak?a time to introduce yourself and your talent to the world! How to not be a starving artist After graduation, you'll find plenty of options?with the right combination of majors mentioned above. Web and software companies hire thousands of graphic designers each year. The advertising and publishing industries always need illustrators and photographers. Other artists work as commercial artists, computer artists and electronic layout consultants, while some become art directors for online services, software companies, magazines or publishing houses. And after working in one of these day jobs for a few years, you could eventually open your own studio and be your own boss. Telling the truth in pottery and pictures While the career paths vary, they all have something in common: passionate people doing what they love, pursuing art for truth's sake. This is the story of the true artist. And this?Indiana Wesleyan University?is where aspiring artists can write their life story, using the language of paint, illustration, visual design, photography, ceramics, computer graphics, interior design, engravings and the finest of fine arts.
